What Affects Your Editing Rate?

3. Manuscript Complexity

Factors that increase complexity:

  • Heavy revisions or inconsistent style

  • Complex plots or multiple POVs

  • Genre-specific challenges (e.g., fantasy world-building)

2. Word Count

Longer manuscripts cost more overall but may qualify for bulk discounts.

1. Service Type

Different editing services require different levels of involvement:

  • Developmental editing (big-picture)

  • Line editing (style and flow)

  • Copyediting (grammar + consistency)

  • Proofreading (surface-level polish)

4. Writing Quality

A clean, well-edited draft will take less time than a draft with frequent errors or unclear structure.

5. Timeline & Urgency

Rush projects may include a 25–50% premium to prioritize your work (depending on scope and availability).
